Unit 27 – Flexibility & Core

Core stability and flexibility classes, also known as holistic workouts will aim to improve flexibility, core strength and body conditioning. Expect to flatten your abs, strengthen muscles, lose weight and improve posture with one of our popular Yoga or CoreRuption classes.

Core stability relates to the bodily region bounded by the abdominal wall, the pelvis, the lower back and the diaphragm and its ability to stabilize the body during movement. The main muscles involved include the transversus abdominis, the internal and external obliques, the quadratus lumborum and the diaphragm.

Here at Unit 27 we offer two classes (alternating daily) that will build your core strength and flexibility quickly and safely.

Benefits Of Flexibility & Core Training

It is commonly believed that core stability is essential for the maintenance of an upright posture and especially for movements and lifts that require extra effort such as lifting a heavy weight during one of our CrossFit, S&C or HIT sessions. Without core stability the lower back is not supported from inside and can be injured by strain caused by the exercise. It is also believed that insufficient core stability can result in lower back pain, poor posture and lethargy.

Realistically, our everyday lifestyles inhibit movement and flow (lack of flexibility) thus tightening muscles and thereby resulting in stiffness and tension. By implementing all the right tools we aim to boost suppleness, mobility and stamina.

With the early morning cool weather, views over green fields opposite, calming music and nothing to worry about apart from holding your form, there is no better way to kick start your day!
